Shared Mobility seeks a Development Coordinator to join our team!

About our Team

Shared Mobility Inc. (SMI) is a nationally-focused nonprofit based in Buffalo that advances innovative transportation services through a shared-access mentality. SMI works to develop, deploy, operate, and grow shared mobility programs like bikeshare, e-bike libraries, and other innovative transportation options. Founded in 2009 as Buffalo CarShare, SMI has since transitioned to supporting progress across the shared transportation landscape. 

 

SMI is the operator and parent nonprofit of Reddy Bikeshare, a 400 bike system deployed across Western New York in addition to bikeshare operations in New York’s Capital Region (CDPHP Cycle!) and Stockton, CA (Bike Stockton). SMI works with community-based organizations, private sector partners, and municipal leaders nationwide from Upstate New York to California’s San Joaquin Valley to help make the way people get around more equitable, efficient, and environmentally sustainable.

Position Summary

The Development Coordinator will play a key role on SMI’s Program Development Team, working closely with our Chief Development Officer, Program Managers, and other staff members to support the organization’s mission to build and cultivate innovative mobility programming. 

 

We are seeking a reliable, driven, and dynamic candidate with a transportation, planning, policy, public service or related background to assist with growing our team, program presence, and community impacts with our portfolio of projects across the country.

Job Responsibilities
  • Communicate with project stakeholders regarding policy, operations, and industry conditions surrounding the electric micromobility industry and SMI’s program

  • Identify relevant funding sources and assist with responding to requests for proposals, grant applications, and other fundraising sources

  • Assist in program and operational design of new and developing shared mobility programming

  • Lead research regarding mobility policy, transportation outreach initiatives, and the electric micromobility technology and programming landscape

  • Contribute content to SMI’s blog, newsletter, and social media to update our partners and stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications
  • A strong understanding and interest in shared transportation, mobility programs, or other related public policy and community-led initiatives

  • Detail oriented, self-starting individual with the ability to work independently and within a team environment

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and comfortability leading presentations and other engagement activities with project partners and community stakeholders

  • Ability to conduct research of emerging mobility programs, concepts, technologies, market scans and literature reviews 

  • Proficiency in Google Drive and/or Microsoft Office Suite; Experience with ArcGIS, Adobe inDesign, and other related programs is preferred but not required

  • Personal enthusiasm for active transportation and electric mobility options

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience or a Master’s degree in public/nonprofit administration, urban planning or related field

  • Salary range: $50,000 - $60,000 (based on candidate’s level of experience)
