Frequently Asked Questions
-
Do I have to pedal on an e-bike?Our e-bikes are pedal assist, which means the assist only engages when you are pedaling. With each pedal you’ll feel like a gentle wind is allowing you to sail just a bit further. Our e-bikes do not have a throttle.
-
Who runs the E-Bike Pilot? We are Shared Mobility, Inc. We are the nonprofit team that operates Reddy Bikeshare. The SMI and Reddy teams work in tandem to support one another’s growth. We know e-bikes can open up the world of biking to a wider audience and we’re excited to get more folks out biking with this program.
-
Where can I legally ride an e-bike?Yes! E-bikes can be legally operated on any city street in Buffalo. However, keep in mind that riding an e-bike on the sidewalk is illegal … After all, sidewalks are designed for pedestrians, not cyclists.
