Don’t want to own a car? Share one!

Buffalo CarShare Launches its First 4 vehicles!

Starting in July, residents of the City of Buffalo will be able to access a new transportation option. Buffalo CarShare provides hourly car rental that is not only affordable but also environmentally friendly. Starting at $5 per hour, members of Buffalo CarShare can access a fleet of fuel-efficient vehicles that are strategically located in neighborhoods that are easily walkable or near transit. This service is perfect for these types of trips:

  • Doctors appointments

  • Grocery Shopping

  • Job interviews

  • A day trip

  • Personal errands

Once a member, folks can reserve a car up to 15 minutes in advance to use. Members walk, bike, or can use transit to get to a car-share location. Once there, each member will have a key fob allowing them to open the car to use. After their trip is concluded, the member returns the car to the same location for the next person to use. Check out the below video for more information:

The first four locations:

  • Quaker Bonnet Eatery (Allen and Elmwood)

  • Virginia Place and Virginia Street

  • Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus Train Station

  • Days Park in Allentown

This program was made possible by a $149,000 grant from the York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) and the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) to pilot the new concept.
