October Electric Micromobility project update

Welcome to Shared Mobility Inc. (SMI)’s October update on Informing Electric Micromobility (EMM) Policy Through Demonstrations & Planning, a NYSERDA funded project. This project is designed to examine the effects of EMM through policy research and demonstration activities across the state. SMI is a Buffalo, New York based nonprofit that advances innovative transportation services that focus on a shared model.

This past month, we have held more EMM demo days for stakeholder groups and members of the public. Surveying of event participants will further inform research components of this project.

Our downtown Buffalo demo day gave members of the public an opportunity to test ride e-bikes and e-scooters in a controlled environment. We also partnered with the Niagara River Greenway Commission to hold e-bike rides for stakeholders engaging in the planning process for future bike trails in Western New York. Last week we also brought our e-bikes and e-scooters to Albany to convene a demo day for local stakeholders in the capital region.

On the vendor side, we have been expanding our partnerships with vendors to expand the breadth of EMM units and charging infrastructure showcased through this project.
